Swachh Maharashtra Mission jointly with GIZ organised a training programme on DPR preparations for solid waste management

A half day training programme on DPR preparations for solid waste management was organised by Swachh Maharashtra Mission (SMM) jointly with GIZ, SNUSP II. This was organised to capacitate the ULBs and the identified consultants of Maharashtra on preparing division wise DPRs. It was inaugurated by Mrs. Mahiskar, Principal Secretary of Urban Development (UD) Department, Government of Maharashtra. She inaugurated the event along with the Executive Director Ms. Seema Dhamdhere, and Mission Director Dr. Uday Tekade r of Swachh Maharashtra Mission and Mrs. Vaishali Nandan, Senior Advisor, GIZ-SNUSP II.
30 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of the state and 3 DPR consultants – Tata Consulting Engineers, AIILSG, Eco pro, NEERI and MJP participated in the event.
During the event the participants were introduced on the requirements of the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Rules 2016 and Municipal Solid Waste Manual at national level and DPR quality criteria that is a requirement for the state under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). The consultants presented the approach for preparation of DPRs for 30 towns. These were deliberated upon and road map was discussed for preparation of DPRs. The overall orientation and the introduction of the main criteria’s that should be considered for preparing quality DPRs was proven to be beneficial for the stakeholders/ participants.
