Municipality of Chittur-Thatamangalam ooganised CST meeting for approval on the City Sanitation Plan

A City Sanitation Task Force (CSTF) meeting was conducted at Chittur-Thatamangalam Municipality to discuss the draft CSP report & the identified action plan – as part of the Suchitwa Mission and GIZ-CSE supported ‘Handholding Training on Preparation of CSP’

The municipal corporation of the city of Chittur-Thatamangalam organized the City Sanitation Task Force meeting to discuss, the draft report on its City Sanitation Plan and the identified action plan for improving the sanitation sector. The plan was prepared by the municipal officials with a vision on the development and improvement of the sanitation sector in the town. The municipal officials of Chittur-Thatamangalam were trained on CSP Preparation during the 3 phased training programme of CIZ-CSE- ‘Handholding Training on Preparation of CSP’.  

The CSP that the city is developing under the guidance of Suchitwa Mission and GIZ, could develop to be a model plan for other towns in Kerala

The meeting was inaugurated by Suchitwa Mission officials along with GIZ Team. Mr. Thiruvenkadam – Chairman, Ms. Sheeba – Vice Chairman, Standing Committee Chair persons, Municipal Secretary,   Municipal Engineer, Health Officers, Officials of Municipality, line departments and various stakeholders were present from the city.

The action plan mentioned in the CSP details out the existing condition of the water supply, wastewater, solid waste and drainage systems and provides information about possible means of improvement.  The action plan draws the plan in perspective of next 30 years. During the CSTF meeting it was discussed that necessary concerns on source level treatment for the organic fraction, separation of recyclables, plastics usage are important for the city and needs to be highlighted in the CSP; this point was unanimously incorporated in the plan.

The draft CSP will soon be submitted to Suchitwa Mission and GIZ for finalreview and approval.
